Overview

Digital Promise leads research directly where learning happens. Our work is deeply rooted in the learning sciences, generating research that explores how people learn and what creates the conditions for powerful learning. Rather than studying education from a distance, we embed ourselves alongside systems leaders, educators, and developers through research-practice-innovation partnerships and applied R&D. By involving practitioners in shaping research questions and testing insights in real-world environments, we produce evidence that is both rigorous and immediately usable to shape practice, inform policy, and support learners across every stage of life. Our work equips researchers to test ideas in authentic learning environments and produce evidence that actively shapes the future of education.

Envisioning Rural Futures brought together the people who know rural communities best—educators and local workforce leaders—alongside STEM researchers to bridge the gap between research and practice. Together, we tackled pressing problems in rural K-12 STEM education and explored how local ingenuity can drive lasting progress in STEM teaching and learning and community growth.
