Offering real-world experiences in promising industries: HCS boasts an Engineering Design and Advanced Manufacturing Academy, where interested students have the opportunity to build skills and knowledge and earn certifications through their academic studies and apprentice-like work in world-class advanced manufacturing labs and the Greenpower racing program.
Providing a LENA program for the community’s youngest learners: In addition to the district’s pre-K program, HCS offers the Lena System to help parents of infants and toddlers (0-30 months) to close the “talk gap” to help their children prepare for school and for life.
Pioneering work in cybersecurity: The Huntsville City Schools Cyber Academy introduces students to the broad field of cybersecurity. Students learn multiple numbering systems and become familiar with Microsoft Windows and LINUX operating systems. They also learn about networking, vulnerability assessment, and cyber forensics, and can earn certifications in CompTIA IT Fundamentals, Network+, Security+, Linux+, and CEH-Certified Ethical Hacker.
