This list is intended to help educators, developers, and entrepreneurs learn about existing digital resources for adult learning. As we have not tested these products ourselves, this list is an overview of current digital offerings in the main need areas of adult learning. Items are listed alphabetically by and within area of learning need.


Communication and Learning Management

Canvas
Canvas is a free learning management system designed to be flexible so teachers can tailor it to their specific course needs.

Ed
Ed is a learning management system focused on mobile use and micro-learning. Ed includes pre-built games that teachers can upload their content into.

Edmodo
Edmodo is a free network connecting learners and resources. Teachers can set up individual course communities within the larger Edmodo network.

Kedzoh
Kedzoh is a learning management system designed for mobile learning. The interface is simple, and users do not need Internet to access their courses.

Mindflash
Mindflash is an online training course creation program. Instructors input existing content to create a full course including performance reports.

Remind
Remind is a free text messaging app for instructors and students to communicate quickly and efficiently.  Scheduled messaging is available too.


Digital Literacy

DigitalLearn.org
DigitalLearn.org is an online hub for free digital literacy support and training. Learners can access self-directed tutorials to increase their digital literacy.

JobScout
JobScout is a free online learning platform that teaches the basic Internet skills learners need to find a job.

Microsoft Digital Literacy
These free courses teach beginning computing with confidence, staying safe online, using technology beyond school, and career planning.

Northstar Digital Literacy Project
In free online modules, learners assess their basic skills on computers and online. They then can take assessments and obtain the Northstar Digital Literacy Certificate, a credential for employment.


English Language Learners (ELL)

BurlingtonEnglish (BE)
BE is a blended curriculum for educators to use with lessons for face-to-face classes and online practice modules. BE also includes civics and career-specific English language learning modules.

Cell-Ed
Cell-Ed offers courses in English, literacy, and citizenship on a mobile platform, so learners can access them on any cell phone. Cell-Ed also offers their mobile learners tutoring support 24/7.

KET: Crossroads Cafe
Crossroads Cafe is a public tv series by Kentucky Educational Television to support English language learning in the classroom or at a distance. Current and past episodes are available online.

Leamos
Leamos (Let’s Read) is an easy-to-use pre-ELL online literacy course that teaches non-literate Spanish-speaking adults to read and write through 43 instructional lessons.

National Geographic Learning: World Class
World Class is a blended program for educators of high-intermediate and advanced English language learners with National Geographic content, images, and video to help learners expand fluency.

OER Commons
Open Educational Resources (OER) Commons is a dynamic digital library. Users can explore open education ELL resources sorted by subject and/or education level.

ReadSpeaker
A web-based product providing text-to-speech and document viewing solutions for websites, mobile sites, mobile apps, connected devices, digital books, e-learning materials, documents and forms.

Rosetta Stone
Rosetta Stone offers research and best practices for developing ELL programs and Rosetta Stone Foundations, an e-learning program designed for beginner to intermediate English language learners.

USA Learns
Free online courses for beginner and intermediate English language learners allow learners to practice anytime. USA Learns also offers free mobile apps for vocabulary and pronunciation practice.

Xenos
Xenos is a virtual world that supports all levels of English language learning. The learning space immerses learners in new contexts in zones populated by other English language learners and teachers.

Learners assess their readiness for college math, see study options, and get a personalized study path. EdReady also has resources to plan and prepare for college, careers, and placement exams.

KET Fast Forward
KET’s multi-platform learning system prepares students for the GED and high school equivalency tests, including online courses in language arts, math, science, and social studies.

MyCareerTools
MyCareerTools offers free online classes on the four subject areas of the high school equivalency exam. All lessons have video and text.

Pre-GED Connection
These 26 free videos cover the reading, writing, math, science, and social studies skills linked with GED test preparation.
