Today’s students must develop the skills, understandings, and mindsets necessary to prepare them for the jobs and challenges of tomorrow. This means more than learning to read and write – it means being able to master academic content and apply that knowledge across contexts in meaningful ways.

The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, along with a network of education stakeholders, has designed a framework for these skills, understandings, and mindsets called “Deeper Learning.” Using this framework, educators can redesign teaching and learning to ensure students are engaged in learning activities, motivated to persist, and developing key skills.

mc.deeperlearningcoverDeveloping a System of Micro-credentials: Supporting Deeper Learning in the Classroom” is a report from Digital Promise that presents this Deeper Learning Framework, along with a set of 40 micro-credentials designed to recognize the competencies necessary for educators to support Deeper Learning in their classrooms.

Digital Promise’s Educator Micro-credentials initiative is building a coalition of educators and partners to develop a system that provides teachers with the opportunity to gain recognition for skills they master throughout their careers. If you are interested in exploring partnership opportunities, please email us.
