Cybersecurity Pathways

Digital Promise is helping schools and communities across the country co-create workforce development opportunities in cybersecurity by building career-connected pathways.

About the Cybersecurity Pathways Initiative

The United States faces a critical cybersecurity workforce shortage, with information security analyst positions projected to grow 33% by 2033.

In 2022, Digital Promise launched an initiative to engage school districts in co-creating Cybersecurity Pathways programs in collaboration with communities, industries, and postsecondary institutions. We supported an inaugural cohort of 10 school districts from across the country, with their students, families, and educators, in the co-design of locally relevant, credentialed Cybersecurity Pathways.

Over 1,000 students participated in the first year. The growing demand spurred the expansion of the Cybersecurity Pathways Initiative to a second national cohort and the launch of an interconnected state-regional effort in Alabama.
