The Engagement Collaborative for Research & Equity (ENCORE)

Where educators, researchers, and product teams design for teacher impact and student success.

About ENCORE

The Engagement Collaborative for Research & Equity (ENCORE) brings together product developers, researchers, and educators in an iterative two-year co-research, design, and rapid-cycle testing (RCT) process to investigate how edtech influence teaching and learning. Using common measures and shared research protocols, ENCORE generates classroom-based evidence and synthesizes insights for the broader field.

ENCORE’s work is anchored in three core outcomes that were identified as critical for improving math instruction for Black and Latino students and students experiencing poverty:

  • Teacher Effectiveness – ensuring educators are supported to skillfully implement high-quality instructional materials and practices that drive student learning.
  • Teacher Time Optimization – reducing burdensome, time-consuming tasks so teachers can focus their energy on the highest-leverage activities for student success.
  • Student Motivation, Engagement, and Persistence (MEP) – centering student experiences so that improvements in teaching translate into deeper engagement, stronger persistence, and equitable outcomes in mathematics.

By examining how product features contribute to these outcomes, ENCORE identifies what works, why it works, and how it can be scaled to strengthen professional learning, support teacher capacity, and boost student success.

ENCORE is part of the AIMS Collaboratory, a network dedicated to advancing equity-focused, evidence-based solutions in education. Together, we are developing and refining strategies with educators and partners to improve teaching and learning at scale.
