Implementation Best Practices and Guidances

Overview

Confirm that your district’s use case can be implemented reasonably.

This guide provides your district the opportunity to reflect on critical planning considerations to take to prepare for and execute an implementation of your use case solution. Addressing these items strengthens your district’s solution and helps to facilitate a smooth integration and roll out. Here are some main questions from the guide to consider:

  • Have you selected an approach to managing the technical team’s work through the implementation phase?
  • Does your design allow data to flow end-to-end with no/minimal manual intervention?
  • Do you have a plan for user acceptance testing (UAT), where end users confirm functional requirements have been met?
  • Have you defined the process by which end users will request support and the support team will route and address support requests?
  • Has a rollout plan been defined, where all users will be given access at once or groups of users will be given access on some schedule?
  • Have you drafted a communication for, at a minimum, the initial group of users in the rollout plan?
  • Have you planned a project retrospective, assessing what went right during the implementations and what lessons can be learned?
