Career and Technical Education

Today, young people are entering a workforce that is more global than ever before. Digital Promise offers a suite of resources designed to help career and technical education (CTE) educators prepare their students for a rapidly changing and increasingly global workforce.

Prepare Your Students for a Global Workforce

As rapid economic, technological, and social changes create a world that is ever more interconnected, companies must hire workers with global competence—that is, the capacity and disposition to understand and act on issues of global significance.

Digital Promise has partnered with organizations, such as the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) and Advance CTE, and experts to create free professional development courses and resources to assist CTE educators and community college faculty with incorporating global skills into their courses.

Take the First Step: Explore Global Competence

What is global competence, and why does it matter for students in career and technical education programs?

Explore our Introduction to Global Competence and Career and Technical Education resource collection to learn:

  • How global competence is defined and its connections to the current and future workforce
  • How secondary and higher education institutions are intentionally integrating global content into their curricula
  • How educators can embed global workforce readiness skills into their CTE classrooms

Work With Us

Digital Promise offers customized training workshops (both virtually and in-person) for faculty and administrators on integrating global skills and content into courses and CTE programs. Half-, full-, and multi-day options are available for a fee.

Administrator Resources

For district and school administrators, equipping students with global skills helps meet numerous educational imperatives, including preparing students for aspects of a changing workforce, developing the ability to work in a collaborative team environment, and fostering understanding of how to work with people across differences.

Our Global Competence Resources for Administrators resource collection provides administrators with a helpful starting point to guide CTE educators in adding global skills to their courses, industry partnerships, and work-based learning.

Get Started

The faculty who went through the [Digital Promise training cohort] want to do multiple classes. Some of their colleagues are now coming in and wanting to participate. It has really, I would say in the past year, completely taken off, almost exploded in terms of interest.
