Making Coding Fun for Students

Students at schools across the country participate in “Hour of Code,” designed to demystify coding and show that anybody can learn the basics. At King Arts Lab School in Evanston, Ill., students learn the behind-the-scenes coding that goes into the development of video games. Students at Carroll Magnet Middle School in Raleigh, N.C., use an app to control a small robot and guide it around a course using basic commands. Coding and its application in these projects teaches valuable skills, including problem solving and perseverance. And, in the words of one student, “Coding is fun!”
