Teachers from Rancho Minerva Middle School in Vista, Calif. visited students’ homes at the beginning of the school year to form a stronger home-school connection. These home visits allowed teachers to learn more about families in the school community and have direct conversations with parents about their needs and concerns. Building trust and communication between parents and teachers is especially important, and helps teachers get a more complete sense of who their students are.
