A World Apart, They’re All Still Kids – Digital Promise

A World Apart, They’re All Still Kids

March 29, 2016 | By

Nancy Nadel’s English class at Lyman C. Hunt Middle School in Burlington, Vt. is collaborating with another school in town as they read a book of stories about children in Afghanistan. The students are working on a project interviewing each other about their families and homes, their interests, and how their lives have changed since coming to the United States. After conducting these interviews, the students are comparing their lives with the stories of  the children they’ve been reading in class. They’re finding that despite being a world apart, they have many things in common, have similar hopes and dreams, and are all “still kids.”
