With the first virtual United Nations General Assembly happening this month, we are proud to announce a new release of MY World 360° projects to be screened on September 22–24 at the SDG Action Zone, a showcase of leading thinkers, actors, creators, and activists working to accelerate action on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

From an augmented reality app designed to help us imagine a world where the SDGs have been achieved, to a 360° video highlighting the digital divide impacting students during COVID-19, the latest MY World 360° playlist shares powerful perspectives and visions for a better world.

The new playlist, featuring work from Argentina, Brazil, Malaysia, and the United Kingdom, will be screened alongside MY World 360° projects selected earlier this year from India, Mexico, Panama, South Korea, and the United States. Together, the 2020 MY World 360° Collection allows viewers to examine issues including gender-based street harassment, polar warming, income inequality, and the difference a mile can make.

MY World 360°, a partnership between the United Nations SDG Action Campaign, Digital Promise, and Oculus, supports creators worldwide to develop their digital skills, share their perspectives, and advance positive action toward the Sustainable Development Goals.

Check out the new MY World 360° playlist below and explore how immersive storytelling can inspire action to build a better world for everyone. Head to myworld360.org for more information and for more information and to see the projects below when they are officially released next week.

“Better World 2030 allows people to use Augmented Reality to share creative videos on social media about the SDGs, starting a much needed conversation in a fun way. The app strives to make communication on the SDGs more interactive and relatable to the user, as they can visualize the SDGs in their own physical environments. I strongly believe in the power of immersive media for promoting memorable experiences that people can learn with.” – Guilherme Novak, Better World 2030 creator, São Paulo, Brazil

“How can we understand and relate to the massive, abstract numbers that are related to our abuse of our planet? Humanity’s Impact aims to tackle this by visualising the incredible data related to our abuse of the planet. By putting a picture to the numbers in an entertaining way, we aim to create awareness and inspire action towards a more sustainable future.”

“This media is about how, in digital education, only those who have an Internet connection are able to attend classes, excluding those who cannot. With this short film we want viewers to understand and realize that in the situation we are in, some students cannot study and that is a disadvantage because everyone has to have the possibility to study.” – Ulises Dante Romano, Iván López, Marcos T, Andrés Díaz, and Brian Beregard, Puerta 18, Buenos Aires, Argentina

“When the project was conceived we were in lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic and so we worked remotely. For the sake of the future, it is important to empower young people to have a vision for a better world, aligned with the SDGs, and it is also crucial to have confidence in young people to then take action and make that vision a reality. If educators, artists, families, businesses, politicians and other leaders in society focus on fostering young people in this way, a global solidarity of youth taking action for the SDGs can be achieved.” – Koichi Samuels, Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom
