MY World 360° invites immersive creators—media pros and first time creators alike—to create media that allows us to experience a world turned around, a new reimagined world in which the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a reality, and that inspires people everywhere to take part in the bold and transformative action needed to solve the issues we face.
Since its launch in 2018, MY World 360° annual selections have screened for and inspired people across the world at the UN General Assembly, UN SDG Global Festival of Action, film festivals, schools and community events, and cultural institutions.
Each year, new MY World 360° creators join a growing community of talented and engaged creators and storytellers that spans across world regions, languages, and backgrounds.
Through the online platform, participants get access to digital resources and a virtual community to help them through the creative and production process. Selected projects will be shown on digital platforms and made available for educators, film festivals, and individuals alongside screening guides for those who want to improve their understanding about global issues and the solutions and approaches to tackle them.
Organizations and leaders have started to join the collective call to #TurnItAround for a just, green, and equitable recovery from the pandemic, and towards realizing the SDG Goals. Specific calls have been made to #TurnItAround for key issues such as access to health and education; addressing poverty, inequality, hunger and climate change; rethinking the global economy; and putting an end to gender-based violence and violations of human rights.
In 2021, MY World 360° is calling for immersive experiences that take viewers—including decision makers, individuals, business leaders, and students across the world—on a journey across the two sides of this turning point.
Selected media will be memorable stories of impact that inspire action: stories of women leaders and agents of change that shine a spotlight on communities and individuals who are already leading on climate, progressing towards gender equality, and creating a more peaceful, just, and inclusive world. The stories will provoke viewers to feel the urgency as well as the opportunity to make this a turning point for people and the planet.
Creators are invited to use whatever tools are available in their location to create media, including augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), 360° video and photography, and 3D design, to show the multi-dimensionality of their local communities and creative visions for a better world. Youth and first time creators are strongly encouraged to apply.
Creators are invited to share work on a rolling basis between now and August 5 for consideration to be screened alongside UN events and activations throughout the year. Submissions received by February 15 will be considered for screening at a special UN event in March. For more information, see www.myworld360.org.
