The next generation of problem-solvers needs more than technical skills and expertise. They need experiences that allow them to see the designed world and its impact on people, collaborate and empathize across differences, and leverage their skills to redesign the world around them to meet the needs of all people in their communities.
Together with Ciena, Digital Promise is proud to introduce the Ciena Solutions Challenge, a new global design challenge inviting middle and high school students around the world to design solutions to address the Sustainable Development Goals and the needs of people in their own local communities.
Starting September 15, students and educators can submit projects to feature in the Ciena Solutions Challenge Gallery, a showcase of media products created by students around the world. These might include podcasts, digital games, apps, data visualizations, interactive maps, or something else leveraging digital tools and technologies to address the challenges they have identified.
Eligible educators may apply for a $2,500 USD Ciena Solutions Challenge Sustainability Award to sustain or scale their Challenge project(s). The award funds will be granted to educators’ educational organizations.
Throughout the Challenge, Digital Promise and Ciena will offer professional learning and mentoring opportunities to support educators and students through Challenge Based Learning to explore big ideas, ask thoughtful questions, investigate challenges, and act to create solutions.
Ready to take the Challenge? Register for the Ciena Solutions Challenge and you’ll receive an invitation to our next live webinar and a special Ciena Solutions Challenge poster.
