This experiment “follow along” video shows how to genetically engineer organisms from the experimenter’s point of view. Join scientist Justin as he completes the 4-day genetic engineering experiment using the Engineer-it kit. During the experiment, you and Justin will create LB agar petri dishes, grow non-engineered bacteria, insert color-producing sea creature DNA inside that ordinary bacteria and see it change color overnight! With this video, you will see all the steps in real-time and learn a little bit more about the science behind the experiment. Follow along with a quiz made specifically to verify if you are ready to do the hands-on! Students can use the tool independently. Students must have a desktop or laptop computer. Students must have internet access – low bandwidth (e.g. for email, web searching, word processing) and/or high bandwidth (e.g. for streaming video).
