High school students at the International School of the Americas (ISA) in Texas foster connections with a community of their peers worldwide through small classes, travel opportunities, and plenty of time for formal and informal exchanges. Students begin with visits to the local museum and local communities, culminating to a trip to Mexico. When asked how this program started, one of the teachers commented, “When we [teachers] have an idea we say to each other, ‘Hey I have a crazy idea. Why don’t we try to take 120 students to Mexico for 6 days?’ That type of out-of-the-box thinking is really encouraged here.” Along with hosting innovative travel programs, ISA is also home to one of the top Model U.N. organizations in America.
