Ms. Alva Laster is a passionate computer science teacher at STEM Middle Academy in Springfield, Massachusetts. She teaches Intro to Computer Science to sixth graders and is known for her innovative teaching methods that make learning fun and engaging for her students. Her dedication to teaching has earned her several accolades, including the 2022 November MassCue Educator of the Month and the spokesperson for Springfield Public Schools’ 2022 Computer Science Education Week. Ms. Laster strongly believes that technology is essential for academic excellence and the development of critical thought in secondary education and beyond. She holds an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership and Management from Fitchburg State University and an Ed.S. in Instructional Technology from the American College of Education, giving her a unique perspective on incorporating technology into the classroom.
