Valerie Crawford-Meyer teaches computer science to middle schoolers at Glades Middle School in Miramar, Florida. Facilitating CS, she engages students in the design thinking process, encouraging students to participate in various challenges. Student teams have participated and won the 2017 Congressional App Challenge representing the 20th Congressional District and three teams placed in the 2018 picoCTF Cybersecurity Challenge, Nike Parkour Design Challenge, and several other challenges for social good. Valerie is a Microsoft Innovative Educator, as well as a Microsoft Trainer, and CODE.org Facilitator for CS Discoveries, recently becoming an HP Teaching Fellow. She was honored by being nominated as NHL Most Valuable Teacher for December 2019.
