The Center for Learner Pathways drives cross-sector transformation to help learners succeed. We develop resources and products based on research and bring together partners across sectors and geographies to create lasting, systems-level alignment for learners.

Through stories, evidence, and innovation, we inspire change in how we teach, assess, and recognize learning, bridging the gap between learners and opportunity, education and workforce, and innovation and policy.

Definitions

Learner pathways: A multitude of learning experiences and events over one’s lifetime. These experiences provide opportunities to develop and recognize skills and competency, unlocking greater possibilities for agency, well-being, and economic security.
Micro-credentials: Digital certifications that verify an individual’s competence in a specific skill or set of skills.

Our Products

The Center for Learner Pathways is committed to cultivating an ecosystem of micro-credentials and digital credentialing technology that recognizes, validates, and celebrates the skills of all learners—no matter where, how, or when they were acquired.

Since 2013, the Digital Promise Micro-credential Platform has provided learners with recognition for the skills they develop throughout their education and careers. The platform has awarded more than 20,000 micro-credentials in partnership with hundreds of organizations.

Badge Engine is a free and publicly available open-source technology that provides organizations with low-cost digital badging technology to support their badging programs.
