Step Into 2024: Discover the Exciting Updates in Micro-Credential Platform

Updates to the Micro-credential platform

December 20, 2023 | By

As we approach the end of 2023, we’re excited to pull back the curtain and share some of the incredible updates we’ve made to our micro-credential platform.

While much of our work happens behind the scenes, focused on refining processes that may not always take the spotlight, every improvement is aimed at enhancing the learning experience for our vast community of more than 38,000 learners.

These enhancements, though subtle in their implementation, are the backbone of our commitment to continuous improvement and ensuring our platform remains a robust and seamless environment for all. Let’s delve into the impactful changes that have shaped the year and set the stage for an even more promising 2024.

1. Enhanced Assessment Process on the Platform

In June, we launched three new assessment features on our micro-credential platform. All of them came from our user community to streamline and enrich the assessment process with the ever-increasing micro-credential adoption and submissions.

  • Bulk Assignments
Issuers can now efficiently assign multiple submissions to the same assessor in one click, freeing up more time to review and celebrate the great work that had been done by the learners and the assessors. See the bulk assignments in action.

  • Private Assessor Comments
Assessors can now provide specific, in-line feedback to every response of the submission, but in two different text boxes: Submission Feedback for learners, and Private Assessor Comments only for issuers. With this, assessors can continue to share valuable growth-based feedback for the benefit of the learner and also offer detailed comments to better support issuers in making the award/denial final decision.

  • Additional Assessment Request
For complex submissions, assessors can now request additional assessments, allowing issuers to involve multiple assessors in the decision-making process for a more comprehensive evaluation.

2. New Customer Service Platform: Zendesk

In July, we introduced Zendesk as our unified customer service platform. Accessible through the Help Center, users can find self-service content and seek agent support if needed, without having to talk to different representatives. This platform ensures a seamless and centralized support experience for all Digital Promise product users, offering automated and targeted ticketing responses to address users’ needs effectively.

3. Ensuring Accessibility: Yearly Spring Link Cleaning

Also in July, our yearly spring link cleaning project reinforced our commitment to accessibility. Working closely with issuers, we ensured that all micro-credential research and resources were open and accessible, with at least 80 percent being free and not behind a paywall. The web is a live “place” and links go down relatively frequently; while we strive to maintain the health of the platform and replace broken links as soon as we can, this annual spring cleaning elevates this ecosystem-wide initiative to ensure learners have access to high-quality, open, research whenever they need it.

4. Updated Walkthroughs for Learners, Issuers, and Assessors

In November, we refreshed our learner, issuer, and assessor walkthroughs to incorporate step-by-step instructions for the newly launched features. Additionally, we added common Q&As based on customer service experiences, empowering users to find answers independently.

As we reflect on the past year, we want to express gratitude for the trust and support of our users. In our commitment to serving an expanding user base, we will continue to prioritize community feedback, innovate based on user needs, and provide ongoing support to ensure an equitable, fulfilling, and meaningful experience on our micro-credential platform.
