Digital Promise and Ciena Announce 3 New Ciena Solutions Challenge Model Schools

• The Ciena Solutions Challenge is a global design challenge by Digital Promise and Ciena that invites middle and high school students to design solutions to the Sustainable Development Goals in their communities.
• The Ciena Solutions Challenge Models Schools are a cohort of schools that receive technology and professional learning to support student-centered learning.
• The newest cohort of Ciena Solutions Challenge Model Schools includes three schools in Brazil, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe.

Digital Promise and Ciena are thrilled to announce the newest cohort of Ciena Solutions Challenge Model Schools, including Escola Estadual Dr. Secundino Dominguez Filho in São Paulo, Brazil; Mnarani Secondary School in Mwanza, Tanzania; and Eveline High School in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.

The Ciena Solutions Challenge is a global design challenge by Digital Promise and Ciena that invites middle and high school students to design solutions addressing the Sustainable Development Goals in their communities. Ciena Solutions Challenge Model Schools are a select group of secondary schools that receive professional development and mentoring, as well as tools for digital fabrication, coding, robotics, and media production to support student creativity, innovation, and invention.

Escola Estadual Dr. Secundino Dominguez Filho, Mnarani Secondary School, and Eveline High School join two regional Ciena Solutions Challenge Model School cohorts in Ottawa, Ontario, in Canada, and Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States.

The schools in this new, global cohort were selected for showing excellence in student-centered learning, having previously received Sustainability Awards in the Ciena Solutions Challenge. Learn more about each school and its students’ previous projects:
