The Center for Global Studies is an inter-district, international studies magnet school that focuses on Arabic, Chinese and Japanese language, history, and culture. In 2013-2014, Principal Roslynne McCarthy led her high school after-school photography class to participate in iEARN’s Photojournalism 2.014: Heritage, Hunger and Food Security program. Ms. McCarthy organized field trips to a variety of foods stores, where her students analyzed the foods that are available to people in their community. Students produced photo stories describing the foods and reflecting on their diversity, and shared these stories with peers in Pakistan, Tajikistan and the United States on iEARN’s online platform.
