Apple
Apple has a new approach to coding that gives everyone the power to learn, write, and teach coding. It is called Everyone Can Code and it includes Swift Playgrounds—a new app for teaching coding on the iPad. Apple is also inviting League districts to participate in a challenge around its new professional learning program called Apple Teacher. Each League school completing the challenge will receive on-site Apple Professional Learning. To learn more, please email Kim Scardino.
Follett
Project Connect, formed by Follett to advocate for librarians to serve as leaders in their district and schools, will be debuting a set of professional development online courses this month. Designed for school and district librarians, administrators and instructional coaches, these courses help promote innovative models of school libraries. The first two PD courses have been announced – Educational Leadership and Digital Citizenship – and will be taught by Mark Ray, nationally recognized for transforming the role of the school librarian into a technological innovator in schools.
Classworks
ACT Aspire has joined Renaissance, NWEA, and Scantron to create customized learning experiences for all students using Classworks. Learn more about the tremendous success districts are having when they combine their assessment data with Classworks.
Code to the Future
Code To The Future is excited to announce partnerships with League Members including Cajon Valley Union School District, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, Gurnee School District 56, Onslow County Schools, Kettle Moraine School District, Covina-Valley Unified School District, and Baltimore County Public Schools.

Following a rigorous evaluation, Oregon became the latest state to approve new editions of the award winning Discovery Education Science Techbook™, aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) as adopted by the state of Oregon, for statewide use as a core instructional K-12 resource through its state adoption process. Education Elements is excited to announce its new tool, Touchpoint, which complements the consulting services Education Elements currently provides school districts. Touchpoint helps to manage timelines, simplify communications and aggregate resources. Learn more here.
Facebook and Summit Public Schools will soon open applications for next year’s cohort of Summit Basecamp, a free program designed to bring personalized learning via the free Summit Personalized Learning Platform to schools and classrooms with summer training, mentoring and ongoing support. Additionally, check out TechPrep, an initiative to promote computer science and programming as a career option and provides resources to get started.
Mathspace
Mathspace has begun partnering with Columbia University in a Gates-funded study to measure the impact of training Columbia undergraduates as tutors for under-served students in schools in Harlem, teaching them mathematics, reading and social-emotional skills.
McGraw Hill
McGraw-Hill Education recently acquired Redbird Advanced Learning, LLC, a leading digital personalized learning company, built on 25 years of research at Stanford University, that offers courses in K-12 math, language arts and writing and virtual professional development programs for educators.
