Providing exposure to medical professions: Through the district’s Medical Academy, students have the opportunity to serve a capstone residency in Centegra Health System Facilities, where healthcare professionals provide students with mentorship and intensive job shadowing experiences.
Creating flexible, interest-based learning opportunities for students: HHS offers blended, online, and specialized academy-based courses that allow students to pursue their studies in the time and place of their choice.
Providing meaningful opportunities to special needs students: The Life Instruction Guiding Huntley Transition (LIGHT) Program provides services and education to special needs students who have completed graduation requirements, but have delayed graduation. The program includes four tiers of support based on individualized student needs. In the most recent year, the LIGHT Program served 40 students, of whom 75 percent were actively employed. Of the students looking for employment, 92 percent were competitively employed.
