K-12 Students with Access to a Personal School-provided Device (1:1)
Providing access to all (1:1): SAUSD is in its fourth year of an ambitious rollout to get a learning device into the hands of every student in the district. In just three years, the district moved from a total of approximately 8,000 devices to over 50,000. These devices are used to support instruction, project-based learning, coding initiatives, and summer enrichment programs.
Improving home internet access through the 1M Sprint project: The district has worked with Sprint through the ConnectEd program to secure low-cost hotspot devices that are available for checkout through SAUSD’s intermediate school libraries. Over the next five years, SAUSD will be able to provide hotspot-enabled smartphones to approximately 4,100 high school students who do not have reliable home internet access.
Designing leading-edge learning through Círculos: SAUSD is home to Círculos, one of 18 XQ super schools in the United States, a school designed to blend the power of social engagement and academic discourse with the promise of personalized, competency-based learning.
