Providing a personal learning device to students: The district launched a one-to-one laptop initiative for all high school students in 2002, and is looking to expand to the middle school level.
Fostering a flexible approach to learning: RCPS operates a virtual high school program, and students interested in courses not offered at their own school can enroll in other schools, participate virtually in Blackboard Collaborate, and pursue other distance learning programs, aided by a Cisco video classroom system in every high school.
