The Higher Education Digital Equity Framework is a set of principles and guidelines designed to guide people studying, teaching, and/or leading within postsecondary institutions in the development or redevelopment of systems, policies, and curricula to address digital skills, knowledge, and infrastructure gaps.

Understanding that higher education institutions vary in type, structure, size, mission, and vision, this framework seeks to operationalize the unique skill sets and insights of students, faculty, and staff through content expertise and lived experience to assist institutional leaders in shared governance and inclusive innovation.

The Higher Education Digital Equity Framework is still in development. We look forward to publishing it in the near future.

The Higher Education Digital Equity Framework will address:

  • Access: Ensuring equitable access to devices, internet connectivity, and digital resources
  • Use: Promoting effective and meaningful use of technology for learning and student success
  • Skills: Building digital literacy and technology skills among students and faculty
  • Policy: Guiding administrators in the creation of policies and practices to adopt emerging technologies
