Reimagining High School: Based on our pandemic experience, Avonworth wants to innovate how we deliver student’s high school education. We want to move away from traditional schedules and instructional delivery to schedules with flexibility and options for the delivery of instruction. We want to expand opportunities for students to explore their interests and talents, including trades, pre-apprenticeships, internships, etc. We believe career exploration and opportunities for true exposure are critical to ensure all students leave high school on a path to success.
Diverse, Equity, and Inclusion Committee: This committee consists of parents, teachers, students, and Board members and is led by an Avonworth parent leader and our Superintendent. This committee has identified areas of work that committee members collaborate on to advance equity for all students in our District. During the 2020-2021 school year, Avonworth Middle School completed a year of activities to become recognized as a No Place for Hate school by the Anti-Defamation League. The beauty of this work is that it is all student-driven and sends the message that we expect a school environment in which every student is respected and accepted.
