Through a complete overhaul of our digital ecosystem both behind the scenes in how we share information within our organization and for those in our community, we began working to make learning more transparent. All of our district’s remote learning resources became accessible through a Learning Portal that housed all of our teachers’ virtual classrooms, schedules for synchronous learning, troubleshooting processes, and “playlists” of lessons and activities.

Competency-Based Assessment: Our district’s elementary schools adopted a prototype of a competency-based digital badging program to use during remote learning to assess student performance. The Mastery Badging System is a real-time, standards-based reporting system that allowed for instant and visual assessment of a child’s mastery of specific grade-level standards.

Our Instructional Model is the manifestation of our district’s mission, vision, and Portrait of a Graduate in the classroom and is broken into four parts: Pedagogies of Deep Learning, Relevant Curriculum and Authentic Assessment, the Modern Learning Environment, and a Safe, Supportive, and Collaborative Culture. Each piece helps to ensure that students are all getting what they need in terms of how we design a supportive school experience that includes equal access to curriculum, instruction, and technology.
