Connecting students to their environment: This project involves educating preschool students, teachers, and families participating in environmental stewardship and building community.
Offering students and parents school choices in their academic careers: Parents and students have choice in which school students in the district attend, based on their academic goals and interests. Programs include International Baccalaureate programs, STEM academies, and access to the Kokomo Career Center.
Leveraging out-of-school time and community partners for enrichment opportunities: With the help of many community partners, Kokomo provides an after-school program to students in grades 2-5 based on teacher recommendation focused on learning and achievement through STEM related activities. This program is four days a week, two-and-a-half hours a day, and gives students the opportunity to get assistance in homework, reinforcement in areas of targeted need based on data, and access to STEM-related activities.
