Northgate School District

Partnering with local businesses: The district is working with a local business incubator to place students in credit-earning internships and creating positive mentoring relationships. Through these experiences, students have the opportunity to engage in real-world learning while positively impacting their community.

Engineering and innovation curriculum: These courses grow student skills and knowledge from middle school through high school. During their time in the program, students support one another and become role models for the younger students.

Supporting students with literacy: As part of a select number of schools across Pennsylvania, Northgate began a pilot program in grades K-2 focused on “Dyslexia proofing” classrooms. Through extensive training in the science of reading and the implementation of high-quality instructional practices, the district is aiming to eliminate the inequity caused when students are unable to read by Grade 3.
