Creating an innovative learning environment: The district provides K-12 computer science curriculum, technology integration professional development programs, and 21st-century learning environments that incorporate flexible furniture, robotics, and STEM kits.
Creating and performing an education equity audit: The Educational Equity Audit was collaboratively generated to provide the district with a roadmap to assure all students are college and career ready. The set of actions in this roadmap ensures accountability while leaving enough flexibility to pivot as the educational landscape changes. The roadmap summarizes the important steps the district will take over the next three years to catalyze improvement in the system.
Supporting learners to be proficient readers by the third grade: Through mastery-based literacy instruction, the Systematic Instruction in Phonological Awareness, Phonics, and Sight Words (SIPPS) program, the district is honoring the strengths and diversity of every learner to ensure their needs are met. To change both mindset and pedagogy, the district is investing in teachers and leaders with multi-level, job-embedded professional development, on-going coaching and feedback, constant monitoring of data, and effective use of intervention teachers and support staff.
