Learn from this district about:

Providing broadband connectivity to students: During the 2018-19 school year, Portland Public Schools adopted and joined in the Sprint 1Million project, which identifies high school students who don’t have access to broadband connectivity outside of the school environment. This project involves a four-year commitment to ensure students from low-income families have internet access outside of school, helping to bridge the digital divide.

Developing culturally relevant curriculum: As the district works to implement Next Generation Science Standards, they are partnering with their local Native American community to develop culturally relevant curriculum that integrates traditional ways of knowing with science and technology.

Improving third grade reading outcomes: Through their TechSmart grants, the district is using technology, software, connectivity, and professional learning for staff to support and enhance Language Arts development at their most socioeconomically disadvantaged and highest English language learner population schools.
