Learn from this district about:

Providing meaningful ways to integrate CTE curriculum with community service: “Back the Pack” is a long-running program within Rock Hill Schools to feed hungry children. Students leaders within the high school’s Career Technical Education (CTE) program designed an assembly line that allows for the mass production of meals and supplies for approximately 600 students. This is a real-world learning opportunity for student leaders to manage the production of packaging at scale, and a way of addressing some opportunity gaps in providing food to those students that need it.

Transitioning to digital textbooks: Rock Hill Public Schools students in grades K-5 utilize the Discovery Education Science Techbook, which helps teachers transform their instruction with a simple-to-use, highly interactive program that integrates multimedia resources, including video, audio, text, and interactives.

Implementing project-based learning: The district has had great success at the middle school level in switching from traditional to project-based learning, allowing students to engage in interdisciplinary problem-solving in groups.

Studying personalization and digital resources: Rock Hill Public Schools educators are professionally trained in the design and integration of blended learning experiences and are provided with the digital resources to co-create and design authentic, individualized, blended learning experiences so they can assist students in fully engaging in the rigor of world class experiences using a variety of resources and technology to demonstrate student-centered, mastery-based learning.
