Richland School District Two

Developing innovation as a principle practice in Richland Two: The R2 Innovates incubator and hub initiative identifies staff with great ideas and partners them with innovation teams to put their ideas into action through a human-centered design framework. Current projects include the redesign of the virtual school to expand opportunities for students, and the redesign of our Leading Up program to provide more leadership opportunities for teachers and staff.

Launching the Richland Two Institute of Innovation (r2i2): R2i2 is an innovative, multi-use learning environment where students, parents, teachers and academic support personnel, community members, and businesses can engage in collaborative educational activities. The R2i2 student program offers many innovative courses, including Entrepreneurship through Mobile Food, 3D Printing and Design through CATIA, Computer Forensics in Global Supply Chain Marketing and Social Media, and Next Energy & Fuel Cell Engineering.

Creating a personalized, authentic, and collaborative learning environment: The district’s 1TWO1 program provides a personal computing device to more than 23,000 students in grades 3-12 and also trains teachers through technology and learning coaches, so technology is fully integrated into teaching and learning.
