Building student-driven programs: The district has developed a robust curriculum in their technology department by adding computer science and innovation courses.
Transforming libraries into makerspaces: The district created spaces where students could explore, tinker, and learn through hands-on problem solving. The spaces are open to all students and include a variety of low- and high-tech items, including Legos, cardboard, foam, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and a 3D printer.
Developing student technology leaders: Tech Team, Jr. is a program for middle school students, training them to assist with basic software and hardware issues. Students from a variety of backgrounds have joined this team and are learning how to troubleshoot issues or fix batteries and screens on Chromebooks. Students earn badges based on coursework through Google Classroom and hands-on demonstration of screen and battery repair.
