Career and College Readiness: A large urban school district, Washoe County School District (WCSD) has over 100 schools and offers learning opportunities to meet all students’ needs. As with other school districts, WCSD offers traditional curricula that leads to career and college readiness, as well as pathways to challenge our gifted and talented students and Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and dual enrollment courses that offer college credit opportunities.
Career and Technical Education: Our innovation lies in the less traditional choices afforded to students, with signature academies and career and technical educational opportunities in agriculture and natural resources, business and marketing, education, hospitality, human services, health sciences, public safety, information technology and media, and the skilled trades. Nearly a quarter of our graduating class of 2020 earned the distinction of ‘CTE Completer,’ having completed at least three years of study in a rigorous career or technical field.
