Actively engaging students in 21st century learning: Indian Prairie is currently emphasizing best practices from learning sciences and utilizing technology to personalize learning for all students. We have expanded our 1:1 program to include Kindergarten and first-grade students. We are now 1:1 across all grade levels. We have also added technology to our PreK programs.
Advancing equity: Indian Prairie is working with principals on ways by which we can diversify our staff and questions we can ask prospective teachers to ascertain their capacity to support students of different backgrounds. We have focused on increasing our staffing from diverse backgrounds by attending job fairs at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Recently, we received a Career Pathways Grant from the Illinois State Board of Education to recruit and support future educators at our three high schools.
Equal Opportunity Schools (EOS) program: EOS’s mission is to ensure that students of color and low-income students have equitable access to America’s most academically intense high school programs and succeed at the highest levels. EOS provides high-quality, actionable data designed to increase participation rates in AP classes while transforming school culture and adult mindsets.
