Global Goals, Local Solutions (Student Guide)

How might we contribute to solving a global sustainability challenge by creating a product, system, or campaign for our local community?

Prepare: Learn about the key ideas in this project

The Global Goals, Local Solutions Design Challenge is a response to the UN’s Global Goals for Sustainable Development, which focus on ending extreme poverty, fighting inequality and injustice, and fixing climate change. As you start this challenge, it may be helpful to reflect on these guiding questions:

  • What are some of the biggest issues you see affecting your school, community, country and/or the world?
  • Who do these issues affect, and how?
  • What (if anything) is already being done to address them?
  • What more needs to be done?
  • What could inspire action to make change?
  • Who could be part of taking action and finding solutions?

You are encouraged focus on issues that you care about and that are impacting your own community.
