Basic Editing Process
First, examine the footage you have. Compare the original story concept and storyboard to the elements that were captured in Production.
Next, test out multiple ways to assemble the footage in the story. There are several stages of edits:
- Assembly Cut: brings together all of the footage you want to use in your film, in more or less the right order.
- Rough Cut: basic edit of all the shots together, including titles and transitions. Make sure you get feedback on the rough cut before moving forward!
- Fine Cut: resembles the final cut of the film with music, voiceover, and even color correction. Share this with a few audience members that haven’t seen any of your footage so they can give you a fresh perspective.
- Final cut: the exported final version of your film for the world to see!
