Connect Classroom STEM to Local Careers

Are you a rural educator looking to make STEM learning more relevant to your students’ futures? We are looking for educators who want to highlight rural ingenuity in their communities and show students they don’t have to leave home to find a fulfilling STEM career.

Who Can Join
  • Middle or High School Public School Educators in Rural Communities: Public and/or charter school teachers or administrators responsible for middle school or high school STEM education. STEM education includes, but is not limited to, science, math, computer science, technology, engineering, agriculture, and dedicated STEM or STEAM classes. Educators must teach or support classes in grades 6 through 12.
  • Educators dedicated to instructional innovation: Must be open to implementing new methodologies in the classroom.
  • Educators who are willing to collaborate with local workforce leaders and researchers: There is potential for further collaboration. Educators must be willing to host a site visit for their team.
Benefits of Participation
  • Build Local Pipelines: Collaborate directly with local workforce leaders to align your curriculum with real-world jobs in your region.
  • National Networking: Connect with top education researchers and other rural educators facing similar challenges across the country.
  • Launch New Projects: Incubate ideas for future grants, pilot programs, or long-term partnerships that bring resources to your school.
  • Compensation: Receive an $800 stipend for your participation in the online convening.
Commitment
  • Format: Two online workshops (4-5 hours each) held one week apart to allow for reflection and matching rural teams with researchers.
  • Dates: Summer 2026.
  • Pre-Work: Complete a survey to help us match you with the right researcher.
  • Future Opportunity: Selected teams may be eligible for a second round of funding to host face-to-face planning meetings with researchers.
