The Spanish National Organization for the Blind (ONCE) did a workshop with students in the Learning Studio at Escola Ramon Fuster in Bellaterra, Spain.
During the workshop, the students wore masks to experience how it feels to move around their class and building without sight, learned how braille works, and explored what challenges exist in the daily lives of the blind. The workshop was for a project in which students are creating braille signs for a blind primary school student who is learning braille. The signs will enable her to move around the different rooms and areas she uses with more independence. The students will also create a guide for non-blind students and teachers with printed alphabet letters and their braille equivalent. These guides will be 3D printed so all students and teachers can interpret the signs and become more aware of the blind student’s experience moving throughout the school.
