Anna Miller is an English teacher at Helena Middle School in Helena, Alabama.
Anna has been teaching for over seven years in vastly different settings. She started teaching 6th grade inclusion math and science in a Title I school and now teaches 8th grade gifted in a more affluent community. Both sets of students still need love and encouragement to grow and learn. She believes every student is capable of improving and is willing to do anything that can help each child.
“These are two groups of kiddos who were asked to display their understanding of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and gothic literature in a creative way. One child created a video game where you have to outrun the Headless Horseman. The other group created a youtube channel for each of the main characters based on their characterization in the short story.”
“Book Whisperer by Donalyn Miller. I love this book so much because it encourages me to challenge my students to become readers. It gives practical ways to engage my kiddos with text and challenges me as a teacher to also be a lover of reading!”
