James on Powerful Learning:

What’s one student project that demonstrates powerful learning?

“Students used Challenge Based Learning (CBL) to engage, investigate, and act on kindness in their community. They utilized the Digital Promise CBL Framework, Newsela resources, a curated Wakelet featuring information on kindness, Post Its, HP EE Streams, and Microsoft Edu tools, such as Teams and Excel.”

What book has influenced your thinking on powerful teaching and learning?

Learning Transformed: 8 Keys to Designing Tomorrow’s Schools, Today by Thomas C. Murray & Eric C. Sheninger identified methods and tools to develop powerful learning experiences in my classroom by empowering students. Transforming teaching and learning takes place by looking at the entire learning experience, and this book gave me great ideas to make those changes. #LT8Keys”

What do you hope education will look like in 20 years?

In 20 years, I expect education to be problem-solving stations. Students will use inquiry to solve real world problems. Problem and project-based learning will replace memorization and regurgitation of facts that get forgotten during the summer slide […] In 20 years, I want to see students exploring their learning possibilities, taking risks to find hard answers, and truly taking ownership of their learning.”

Ask me about:

“Reach out to me if you have any questions about technology integration, you need assistance with CBL, look to utilize MicrosftEdu tools, and if you want to develop a MinecraftEdu lesson.”
