John started his teaching career as a fifth grade general studies teacher, during which time he was asked to teach a course on career and technical foundations. This experience helped him discover his affinity for robotics, particularly building robotics programs from scratch. As an HP Teaching Fellow, John is excited about engaging with Fellows in learning opportunities that bring new technologies and other resources into the classroom. John also has experience with high school redesign and looks forward to sharing his experiences with his peers in the cohort.
“Twenty years from now, I would hope that some of my students would come back and explain to me that the learning they did with me impacted them by giving them practical, hands-on skills that they were able to apply to the real world outside of school when they graduated and moved on.”
