D'Andre J. Weaver, Ph.D.

“I learn best when the content is meaningful, engaging, and slightly above my comfort zone; when the learning experiences are authentic and personalized; when it can happen anywhere and at anytime; and when I’m able to produce something new and real as a result of what I’ve learned.”

D’Andre J. Weaver. Ph.D. is a native of Chicago’s South Side who understands the life-changing power of amazing teachers and a quality public education. As Digital Promise’s first Chief Digital Equity Officer (CDEO), he oversees the Verizon Innovative Learning Schools (VILS) program, part of Verizon’s flagship education initiative with a national network of more than 500 Title I schools. In addition, he works with a variety of stakeholders at the federal, state, regional, and local levels to advance digital equity across the United States.

As a former public school teacher, principal, senior leader, and superintendent, Dr. Weaver cares deeply about helping students realize their dreams. His leadership is centered around equity and access, learner-centered approaches, advancing digital equity, and organizational health. He is a board member at the Chicago Public Education Fund and the Mastery Transcript Consortium, as well as a Pahara Fellow, Racial Equity Leadership Network Fellow, and a member of Education Leaders of Color (EdLoc), Men of Color in Educational Leadership (MCEL), and several local and national educator associations.
