Latonya Simpson is an Associate Director of Professional Learning for the Verizon Innovative Learning Schools initiative at Digital Promise. Latonya believes equity in education starts with high-quality instruction and empowering educators with research-based strategies. She joins Digital Promise with more than 20 years of experience in curriculum development, instructional coaching, and personalized digital learning. In her previous roles as a STEM leader, math facilitator, district specialist, and personalized learning coordinator, she has proven that we can inspire actions that shatter the barriers of inequity. Prior to Digital Promise, Latonya served as a K-8 curriculum specialist for Pearson, where she led professional learning experiences for state conferences, multi-year partnerships, and multi-million dollar opportunities across the nation. Latonya brings an in-depth knowledge of problem-based learning and leveraging technology to personalize instruction. Her journey began as an elementary educator in Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland. This is where she developed a passion for diverse learners. Latonya holds a B.A. in elementary education from the University of Maryland and an M.A. in school leadership from Gardner-Webb University.
