We at Digital Promise join with millions of Americans in seeking justice for Black lives lost to racialized violence, and in condemning our nation’s long history of individual and systemic racism. We stand firmly in the belief that Black lives matter and will continue to use our platform to further that message.
We believe that to be silent on these issues is to be complicit. As supporters of educators, students, and others within the education system, we recognize that education can be a tool to build equity, and at the same time it is often a tool of oppression against people of color, specifically Black people. It is our responsibility to learn, practice, and teach anti-racism, with particular urgency for our white colleagues and partners.
Digital Promise will seek to center equity in our work by utilizing an anti-racist lens—both within our organization and through our network—to ensure students have fair access to powerful and inclusive learning experiences. We stand in solidarity with the communities we serve and all those working to build a more just and compassionate world.
