Developing personalized learning programs: Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) is committed to providing multiple pathways to demonstrate mastery in learning for students by rolling out personalized learning across the district, aiming to provide personalized learner profiles to all students, to maximize student potential.
Building makerspaces: In both new and renovated buildings, CMS is creating spaces where students can tinker and engage in maker learning by transforming library and media center spaces throughout the district.
Fostering community engagement for digital learning and literacy: The district includes partners across the community in digital inclusion efforts, and meetings with local nonprofits and private industry convene with the question, “What are you and your organization going to do to address digital inclusion?”
Creating a focused literacy initiative: The North Star Literacy Initiative is a district program that solicits groups, businesses, and individuals to volunteer one hour with one student a week to improve literacy.
