“Thanks to a second grade science project, I had the opportunity for my mother to show me how to use this thing called the “Encyclopedia” tucked away in a bookshelf at my grandma’s — the same Encyclopedia my mom used in college. I didn’t have the words then, but I know now that type of learning is the strongest because it put connection and discovery in the center.”

Before joining Digital Promise, Hashim worked as an elementary reading and writing teacher for Atlanta Public Schools. After this, he supported community and student engagement programming at Emory University and the United Negro College Fund.

Hashim most recently led the marketing and strategic communications for the District of Columbia Public Schools’ teacher recruitment, retention, and diversity efforts. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Georgetown University and a Master of Arts in English and Critical Theory from Vanderbilt University.
